A chieftain of ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, who is aspiring to occupy the position of National Vice Chairman, South South, Ambassador Fubara Dagogo, has approached a Federal High Court in Abuja to halt the party’s National Convention scheduled for March 27, 2026.
Dagogo stated this while speaking with our correspondent in a telephone chat yesterday.
Dagogo, who is the Director-General of the APC States Assembly Forum, ASAF, said he is angry because he was denied his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms by the APC Convention Committee despite meeting all requirements and paying the compulsory N5.1 million.
He said, “I have no other option than to seek legal redress as a foundation and passionate member of the party.”
In the suit, marked No FHC/ABJ/C8/591/2026 and made available to our correspondent, Dagogo said that he is seeking the court’s interpretation of the APC Payment Acknowledgement Receipt No 26827, dated 13/03/2026, and the Adjusted APC 2026 Schedule of Nationwide Congresses and National Convention.
The defendants in the suit include the APC, the National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, incumbent National Vice Chairman, South-South, Hon. Victor Giadom and the National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Mohammed Argungu.
Meanwhile, the defendants have been given 30 days to respond to the summons.
Among the prayers made by Dagogo’s counsel, Chief Sir OAU Onyema, include praying the court to grant a perpetual injunction restraining the defendants from conducting the zonal congress for APC South-South on March 25, 2026.
The plaintiff is also seeking a declaration that he is entitled to be issued with the Expression of Interest and Nomination Form as an aspirant for the position of National Vice Chairman, South-South.
Dagogo maintained that his decision to seek legal redress is not just about his exclusion, saying, “This legal challenge is not just about one man’s exclusion; it is about defending the integrity of the APC and restoring the vision upon which it was founded.”
The APC National Chairman, Professor Yilwatda, and the party’s Convention Committee Chairman, former governor of Katsina State, Aminu Masari, had earlier pledged fairness to all aspirants for the National Convention.
Attempts by our correspondent to get the reaction of the APC National Chairman did not yield any results as his telephone rang several times, but there was no reply.
